青面金剛と庚申講 Shomen Kongo and Koshin-ko

道教では、人間の体にサンシという悪い虫が棲み、人の睡眠中にその悪事を天帝に報告に行くという。そのためにサンシが活動するとされる庚申の日(60日に一度)は夜は眠らずに、人々が集まって徹夜で過ごす「庚申侍」の風習があった。庚申侍は平安貴族に始まり、近世には民間が庚申の夜に集まり、庚申講として夜通し酒宴をする風習が広まった。
青面金剛は青面金剛明王とも呼ばれ、庚申講の本尊であり、サンシを押さえる神として知られる。夜叉神である。
Shomen Kongo and Koshin-ko
In taoism, A bad insects was called "sanshi", live in the human body. When a person is sleeping, Sanshi go to god and report on his/her wrongs. For that reason on the day of Koshin(which comes around once every 60th day), there was a custom of Koshin-tai in which people gathered and stayed up all night. This custom was said "Koshin-tai".
This custum of Koshin-tai began with Heian nobility. In the early modern period, people gathered on the night of Koshn. It became customary to feast all night. It is called "Koshin-ko".
Shomen Kongo is also called Shomen-kongo-myou, and is the main deity of the faith of the Koshin sect. He is kmown as the god that holds down the Sanshi.
